From the Principal
Welcome back to another exciting term! We are committed to providing a safe and positive learning environment for all to support our high expectations. As we move forward into term 2, I want to remind everyone of the importance of reading your reports carefully and discussing them at home and with your teachers. These reports provide valuable feedback on your progress, and it's important to use them as a tool for improvement. I encourage all students to set goals for themselves in the coming term, and to work closely with teachers and parents to develop strategies for achieving them.
Our school puts a strong emphasis on student safety and well-being. We want all students to feel secure and supported, both in and out of the classroom. To achieve this, we have implemented a variety of programs, such as our counselling services and our additional support staff, who focus on addressing students' needs and promoting positive mental health. Support staff include Youth Support Workers, Guidance Officers, School Based Police Officer, Chaplain, Psychologist, School Based Youth Health Nurse, Community Education Counsellor, and First Nations Support Workers.
This week is Guidance Officer Week, and our three Guidance Officers (Catherine Spencer, Jane Li and Kate Woodward) are to be commended for their hard work and compassion in assisting our students.
To support our students’ wellbeing and advocacy, we have a strong reporting policy of issues that students may experience, such as bullying. Students are to make a confidential report of any issue to the office so that we may direct and support them.
We aim to create an environment in which students can learn, grow, and achieve their full potential, and we believe that this is only possible when our school is a safe and respectful space for everyone. We take unsafe behaviour very seriously. There will be consequences for those who choose to engage in such actions.
Thank you for your continued support to achieve the best outcomes for all students.

Maths Matters
Last term, the year 11 Mathematical Methods students showed their creative side to develop a company logo. The brief was, to create a logo that used at least 3 different relations, that was suitable for seaside accommodation or a car service business. Students designed their logos by hand and then used a digital graphing tool to create the digital design. The logos from Emily, Josh and Isaac are pictured below:
In preparation for term 1 assessment Mrs Birkbeck's year 7 maths class completed four rounds of 'Who wants to be a Mathionaire', a quiz style competition revolving around the math concepts that they had learnt during the term. The winner of the term 1 competition was Elliott who now has his name engraved on the perpetual trophy. Each term will see students continue to battle it out to get their own names on the trophy.
